The Conductor

From 2014 I Medici are enjoying the inspiring leadership of Maestro Gilles Auger, conductor and Music Director of the ensemble.

Born in Quebec City, Gilles Auger holds an M.Mus. from the Julliard School of Music where he was the recipient of the prodigious Bruno Walter Scholarship and benefited from the tutelage of Leonard Bernstein. Recipient of many awards, such as the First Prize at the Besançon’s international competition for conductors (1986),  the Virginia P. Moore Award of the Canada Council (1987), the Clifford Evens Memorial Conducting Award (University of Western Ontario, 1990) and other. Maestro Auger has conducted many professional orchestras, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. He teaches conducting at the Quebec Conservatory of Music.
